Indeed, the trend has changed a lot since and the cranberry, also called atoca in Quebec for its native equivalent, is a fruit of everyday consumption, especially because of its exceptional therapeutic qualities.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that Quebec is the world leader in the production of organic cranberries? There are 38 organic cranberry farms in the province and research in the cranberry sector has been very important in recent years, improving production techniques and agri-environmental practices.<\/p>\n<h3>Purchase<\/h3>\n<p>Cultivated cranberries are harvested between late September and late October. Choose them fleshy, smooth, shiny and very firm.<\/p>\n<h3>Preserve<\/h3>\n<p>Store your unwashed fresh cranberries in a paper bag in the refrigerator. Freeze them to keep them until the next harvest, dry them or can them for several months.<\/p>\n<h3>Stay healthy<\/h3>\n<p>The benefits of cranberries are well established. It is an excellent source of vitamin C and the second most antioxidant fruit after blueberries. Cranberries are good for your heart, stomach, teeth and cholesterol control.
