Indeed, even if it does not form a bulb, chives belong to the <em>amaryllidaceae<\/em> family and share certain tastes with garlic and shallot. It comes from the East, potentially Siberia, and today is cultivated almost everywhere.<\/p>\n<h3>Purchase<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Use thin stems rather than large ones, which are often marked with a pungent taste. They should be of a bright green colour and smell fresh. Avoid bouquets that show signs of fatigue.<\/p>\n<h3>Preserve<\/u><\/h3>\n<p>Put your chives in a damp cloth and store it in the refrigerator for a week. Humidify the cloth a little bit every day. The narrow bulbs, without their leaves, can be stored for a few weeks. Freeze the leaves and flowers by placing them, finely chopped, in the ice cube tray and covering them with water.<\/p>\n<h3>Preparation<\/u><\/h3>\n<p>Untie the elastic knot of the bunch of chives and rince in water.
